EVENTS

late September and most of October (see website for which nights they are open), 2012:  21st annual Pirates of Emerson, a Halloween Adventure
Pleasanton, CALIFORNIA
VENUE:  Alameda County Fairgrounds, corner of Bernal & Valley Ave., Pleasanton, CA, 94566.
Five haunted houses, two mazes, and Bumpkin Patch, and more! We are completely unlike the traditional haunted house; we have taken this to a much, much higher level. At our Dark Adventure, we have created an environment where you are actually in the scenes. We have made extensive use of special effects, robotics, animation and interaction. While we do have the obligatory scream in your face areas - they are relatively small.  Some of the animation may be a bit intense for those of an impressionable age and we do not recommend our attraction for those under 13 years old. This is an extremely scary event.   Tickets can be purchased online at the website.

May 2nd, 2013:  International Scurvy Awareness Day
Many a sailor or pirate had to struggle with the symptoms of scurvy.  Sad to say, scurvy still exists.  The humble goal of LimeStrong is to wipe out what may possibly be the most easily preventable disease in human history, Scurvy. They hope to achieve this by bringing awareness to the fact that Scurvy still exists in the modern world, even though we have had a documented and cost effective cure for almost 400 years.  Plus, it’s a great excuse to have some grog (rum punch with lime juice), or margaritas, with yer shipmates in the name of a good cause.  Visit the website for some great ideas to promote the awareness of this day and the problem of scurvy.  AND EAT A LIME! (or lots of other fruits).

Alexandria Bay, NEW YORK
[until we get updated information for 2013, here are details from the 2012 listing]
Our sword-fighting group, known as the ‘Tales from Remikreh,’ will be performing throughout the Village streets and at various Route 12 locations. Be sure to stop by and visit the Entertainment tent for a list of activities planned for that day. Bill Johnston was a renegade after the Patriots War, who blew up the British steamer, Sir Robert Peel, hid among the 1000 Islands, and was hunted by both U.S. and Canadian authorities. The annual Bill Johnston’s Pirates Days celebration commemorates some of his exploits. Fill your senses with the sound and spectacle when pirate ships attack the village from the St. Lawrence River, as the brave villagers try to stave them off. The air is filled with smoke and the sound of musket fire and cannon, and eventually the villagers succumb as the pirates invade the town. After the Mayor turns over the key to the village to the invading marauders, everyone becomes a pirate. The Alexandria Bay Chamber of Commerce, through the hard work of our members; sponsor all of the above events. You are invited to join in the spirit of Pirate Days and dress as a Pirate, Patriot, or Indian when attending any or all of these events. All times are subject to change. Please check the Event Board at the Entertainment  Tent or at the Chamber Office at (315) 482-9531. A band of Sword Fighting Pirates will be available during all 10 days at most events listed for photo opportunities. The Tales from Remikreh group will be throughout the Village so BEWARE! Please see the schedule at the Entertainment Tent for specific locations and times. Check out local merchants for sales of event flags. Most events are free and for the enjoyment of the public.  Most events are free and for the enjoyment of the public.  Call the Chamber office for details at 800-541-2110.

He was one of the surviving members of Blackbeard's crew following his death at the hands of Lieutenant Robert Maynard in 1718. Caesar's Rock, one of three islands located north of Key Largo, is the present-day site of his original headquarters and named in his honor. Black Caesar is known to haunt Key Largo and it’s shores. mid September (three weekends), 2014:  The 7th Annual  St. Louis Pirate Festival
Wentzville, MISSOURI
[on hiatus until 2014 ... until we get updated information for 2014, here are details from the 2011 listing]
VENUE: Rotary Park, Wentzville, MO
Tortuga, 1690 and the Pirates are at it again! Autumn has come to the Caribbean Islands – cooler winds have begun to blow, coconuts have fallen from the palms, and the delicate leaves of the island’s trees have begun to change. It’s also the time of year when a Pirate’s fancy turns to ... well, booty. But when does a pirate not fancy some booty? Treasure that is ... Spanish Gold. Too much law and order on the Island of Martinique has forced the crew of the St. Louis Pirate Fest to sail to the Island of Tortuga where Pirates are Pirates and the Military is scarce. True to the Island’s history, the Fest ground has been divided into “Quarters,” each controlled by Pirates and Islanders of different nationalities. This allows for peaceful coexistence among the inhabitants of each nation. And if you believe that, you’ve been drinking too much rum! It’s business as usual on the island of Tortuga, and – considering the primary business on the island is Piracy – business is booming. The morning, they say, belongs to the honest folk, probably because Pirates aren’t known to rise early. But don’t be surprised if a battle or two between rival Pirate Crews breaks out here or thar. The smart money might be on the Pirate Card Championship taking place at the English Fort, with Captains Edward "Blackbeard" Teach, "Calico Jack" Rackham, Mary Reed, and "Red Legs" Greaves at the fore. When those scallywags get together, things get exciting!
Special Events:
--Costume Contests Win Prizes for Best Period Appropriate Attire 3:00 Children's Costume Contest at The Barkadeer Stage 4:15 Adult Costume Contest (21 and over only) at the Dead Parrot Pub
--Pirate School Kids, learn from experts how to be a pirate! 1:30 & 4 p.m. at the Queen Anne's Revenge Stage.
Held at Wentzville's Rotary Park, 45 minutes from downtown St. Louis..  St Louis Pirate Festival Office 425 Spencer Road St. Peters, MO 63376 (636) 928-4141.
